Women Shaping Science: Journeys, Barriers, and Breakthroughs - 1:30pm
What does it take to thrive as a woman in science today—and how is the landscape shifting for the next generation? Authors and science communicators Jessica Nordell, Kim Todd, Anna Farro, and moderator, Liz Heinecke come together to share their personal journeys of resilience, discovery, and impact. This conversation will highlight the challenges women have faced in STEM fields, the role of mentorship and community in overcoming barriers, and the evolving opportunities for equity and inclusion. Together, the panelists will reflect on how women are not only shaping the sciences, but also redefining what it means to lead and innovate in the field.

Jessica Nordell is an author, journalist, and poet. Her book The End of Bias: A Beginning (Metropolitan/Henry Holt) was shortlisted for the Royal Society Science Book Prize, the Lukas Prize, and the NYPL Bernstein Award, and her nonfiction appears…
