Find Waldo Local is a fun and impactful way to introduce young people to the value independent bookstores and other local businesses bring to their community.

We are excited to partner with Candlewick Press and American Bookseller's Association for the hunt for the iconic Waldo.

Where’s Waldo?

In Wayzata & West Metro, of course!

The iconic children’s book character in the red-and-white-striped shirt and black-rimmed specs is visiting 15+ local businesses, including The Thinking Spot, throughout our community this July.

Anyone who wishes to participate can pick up a “Find Waldo Local in Wayzata!” stamp card, which contains the names of all the participating sites; with each Waldo they spot, they can get their card stamped or signed by the participating shop.

While you’re at The Thinking Spot, find the mini Waldo standee and a Wizard Whitebeard standee! Don’t forget to get your stamp or signature for finding both. that as well!

The first 125 players who collect store stamps/signatures from at least 10 different businesses and bring their passports in to The Thinking Spot get a Where’s Waldo? poster, a $1 Off coupon for a WALDO book and a Buy 3 Get 1 Free coupon for The Thinking Spot.

Players who collect 15+ stamps/signatures get all of the above PLUS they are entered in a drawing to win Prizes during our We Found Waldo Party on August 1st for other prizes.

Prizes include gift cards to local businesses, gift baskets, and an assortment of Where's Waldo? books!

Those present at the party will get a preference for the drawing. If we have leftover prizes, those who complete the challenge but can't be present will also be eligible!

The hunt begins on July 1, 2026!

Team play is acceptable, but prizes, other than stickers and coupons, are single.

Find Waldo Local is a free, family-friendly summer activity and a wonderful way to support local businesses and the Shop Local movement.

There is no charge to participate, and the hunt lasts for the entire month of July.
