About the event

Dr. Jayshree Seth holds two roles at 3M that allow her to combine her technical expertise and creativity with her love of science. As a Corporate Scientist, she works to breakdown complex problems and find solutions that stick! As the Chief Science Advocate, she hopes to help people of all ages around the world learn to appreciate science in their daily lives.

Dr. Seth currently holds 76 patents, with several pending. She was the fourth woman and first female engineer to be inducted into the Carlton Society, 3M’s “Hall of Fame.” She also received a 2020 Achievement Award from the Society of Women Engineers, which coincided with the launch of her first book, The Heart of Science: Engineering Footprints, Fingerprints, & Imprints, in 2020. Her latest book "The Heart of Science: Engineering Fineprint" was recently published. Both her books will be available for book signing at the event!

She was recently featured in the 3M docuseries Not The Science Type which highlights four brilliant minds, showcasing women who break down boundaries within their fields – biology, engineering and science and technology-based applications. While each woman has taken a different path to pursue scientific excellence, they are bound by the common experience of feeling excluded, or “not the type” in traditionally homogenous fields.

Her first book was part of my inspiration for  making The Thinking Spot a space for science communication, so this event is very dear to my heart!

Come listen to Dr. Seth talk about the state of science, why science commmunication matters and how we encourage everyone to be the "Science type"!
